Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia (mental deterioration of memory and thought processes) among the elderly. It is estimated that 4.5 million Americans over the age of 65 are affected with this condition. Alzheimer’s Disease is named after Dr.Alois Alzheimer who in 1906 described changes in the brain tissue of a woman who had died of what was thought to be an unusual mental illness. These changes are now recognized as the characteristic abnormal brain changes of Alzheimer’s Disease. Read more
